Position Summary The Senior Craft Post-production Editor is responsible for innovative concept development, editing, and post-production on projects for all platforms of The Weather Channel and Allen Media Group. This includes Live News, Long Form (TWC Entertainment), Digital (Pattrn and Weather Channel Plus), Marketing & PR, Sales, and any other departments or Allen Media Group properties.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Must demonstrate advanced creative expertise in the creation of engaging content for Live weather news, including packaged stories, features, and sponsored content; also high-production sales presentations and sizzle reels. Must help edit and finish IMR segments with high-level sound design and audio sweetening. Deliver sponsored billboards and tags for AdSales as requested. During significant storms (hurricanes, winter storms and severe outbreaks), will help function as edit lead for the network.
Responsible for editing in-house specials, series episodes and series re-cuts as required by the Original Programming department. This is high-level production value with an eye for pacing, style and timing to tell compelling stories. Must have ability to create and tell a story through creative editing techniques.
This person will be one of the creative leads for the Craft Post editors and will be responsible for assignment of projects to members of the Craft Post team: Assist with any team scheduling changes, assign editing tasks, scheduling of sessions, and editors’ shifts. Ascertain the ongoing needs of the Craft Post group and provide guidance and direction across long-form and live content, focusing on evolving needs for content creation, delivery and playback across TWC’s real, augmented and virtual platforms
Consult with clients to deliver content to all platforms via a variety of specs and codecs. Import/export images, audio and video sequences to/from other workstations via Ethernet, digital router, or other available technologies
Ingest and prepare file based assets and tape (very rarely) for edit
Propose new processes/workflows to improve efficiency and develop product requirements
Proactively troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues with platform deliveries that might impact the department
Media manage, organize and archive projects and footage
Archive footage with organization at the end of each project
Coordinate work with various departments and platforms.

Education, Experience, Certification Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in television production or communications
5 years of post-production editing and finishing experience in a commercial post-production or broadcast environment, demonstrating the knowledge, skills and ability to work as a self-starter with minimum supervision

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Full proficiency in the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of software tools, specifically Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Media Encoder, Photoshop and Audition.
Ability to work well in a collaborative, high performing team environment, and mentor Associate Production Editors where applicable
Keen ability to create and tell a story through editing techniques
Demonstrated proficiency using Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, and Slides).
Experience with available compression techniques and file formats
Knowledge of advanced color grading, 2D/3D tracking, and keying/compositing
Knowledge of VTR’s, routing system, monitor calibration, scopes, digital platform processes, and available technologies is preferred
Strong consultative and customer service skills to interface with clients during the lifespan of a project
Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Strong knowledge of typography/motion design/composition
Strong understanding of video standards/formats (i.e. codecs, frame rates, resolutions, bitrates)
Strong working knowledge of Broadcast and Digital production operations and live studio environment
