TV Producer

Description

Produces and supervises the production of Broad & High, a weekly arts and culture television magazine show that includes local segments on fine arts, live events, cultural affairs, performances, and human interest stories plus the production of off-air video projects for web and social media to promote the show. This position will be responsible for producing approximately 45 half-hour programs annually using new, local content and pre-produced national content.

Production duties include conception of stories and hands-on follow through to create weekly half hour program; producing, writing, directing, editing of segments and compilation of archival materials plus coordination of host, videographers, freelancer and facility schedules to usher video product from idea to screen. Ideal candidate will have great networking skills and meet regularly with art institutions throughout Central Ohio to churn content. On-air hosting/reporting a plus.

This is a field production position that is responsible for scheduling, producing, editing and curating Broad & High – a weekly arts magazine show – while also producing for other WOSU programs plus internal and external clients.

Applicant will demonstrate experience engaging with members of underserved and marginalized communities by providing examples of content produced that examines the intersection of race, ethnicity, accessibility, culture and the arts.

Requirements

Minimum Education Required
Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in broadcast communication or journalism.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in broadcasting or Journalism or equivalent education required. 3 years experience as producer of long form production required, preferably in arts cultural or community affairs; experience producing public television programming preferred. Experience in non-linear editing required, videography experience preferred. Strong writing and organizational skills required.

Applicants who do not submit a link to a resume reel that highlights the editing and storytelling capabilities of the applicant will not be considered for this opening.  Resume reel should showcase a variety of video packages ranging in length from 3 to 5 minutes, should illustrate applicant’s interviewing skills, writing and/or voice over work and video editing including use of graphics.  Resume reels of work in radio, digital podcasting or digital video are also accepted. The targeted hiring range for this position is $50,000-60,000 annually.
