Job Description

I. Job Summary | Major goals and objectives.

The Product Reviews Editor will join a central team of writers and editors that will assign and edit quality eCommerce buying guides to be distributed across Meredith brands: Real Simple, Food & Wine, Better Homes & Gardens, Health, and many more. This role requires someone who is experienced writing and editing SEO-driven content, testing products, and shopping online. They will edit in-depth, research-driven evergreen content that inspires Meredith’s large audiences to make informed, qualified purchases. When time permits, they will write product review content.

II. Essential Job Functions

Accountabilities, Actions and Expected Measurable Results

80%
  • Edit product reviews and buying guides from the centralized eCommerce content team that generate strong affiliate revenue and organic sessions
  • Identify and carry out SEO commerce content opportunities within home, food, and style categories, collaborating with the SEO teams and various eCommerce editors
  • Use data and analytics to brainstorm and guide content decisions
  • Collaborate with other eCommerce and digital writers, and various members of the larger affiliate team including the content strategist

  • Work with the Senior Reviews Writer and Deputy Editor to plan monthly assignments and do keyword research, including managing freelance assignments
  • Assist with planning and execution of key tentpoles such as Amazon Prime Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday
  • Write content when time permits
  • Pull monthly affiliate earnings and reporting
  • Attend weekly editorial meetings

III. Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Marketing, or related field

Experience:

4+ years experience as a writer for an online publisher

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 Must haves:
  • Demonstrate experience and interest in creating and editing commerce content for users along all stages of their purchasing journey (from browsing to researching and making a purchase)
  • A strong writer and editor who enjoys/is interested in creating commerce content and coming up with opportunities that generates strong sales and sessions
  • Very familiar with SEO best practices and creating research-driven content
  • Willing to use data to guide content decisions and methodical in testing ideas over and over again in order to achieve desired results
  • Ability to work within technical systems – content management systems (CMS)
  • Comfortable working in a fast paced and matrixed organization
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Highly adaptable and quick to learn processes
  • Knowledgeable about numerous product categories including home, food, and style
  • Familiar with the Meredith portfolio
