Job Description

Description

The senior reporter will be responsible for daily news coverage exploring, uncovering and explaining issues related to growth in and around the city of Denver. This includes the ways people experience the city changing around them, such as cost of living, transportation issues and quality of life factors. It also includes bigger-picture looks at who feels like they can live and thrive in Denver, how the city is designing its future self and how it’s facing the most pressing issues of the day, from (as it turns out) historic inequities to pandemics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Report daily stories on a variety of topics for Denverite.com and contribute to newscast on-air for CPR News. We expect this person will source up and pitch story ideas regularly, and take some assignments.
  • Identify important storylines, communities and people to cover and develop expertise that sets Denverite apart from other news outlets in areas we care about.
  • Break news.
  • In rotation with the rest of the Denverite team, write the morning newsletter that goes to our most loyal readers.
  • Find opportunities for both impact-oriented stories and voicey moments of delight
  • Contribute to group reporting projects within Denverite -- like Map Week or a focus on a geographic area -- as well as with CPR News colleagues.
  • Serve occasionally as a resource to colleagues looking for tips, guidance and expertise.
  • With Denverite editor, set reporting priorities and track progress.
Salary Range:

$65,000-$75,000
