Job Description
The Lead Technical Animator will be the point of contact for all topics about in-game cinematics technology, coach a team of technical artists and software engineers, and work with production and the animation department to help ease a smooth transition for animation workflow between maya and engine. This role will also work with supervisors to find and offer solutions to complex problems related to animation.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all animations will work with the client custom tools
- Be the point of contact for performance and other technical topics for in-game cinematics
- Troubleshoot problems in the animation pipeline
- Help to develop new animation pipelines for in-game cinematics
- Be the main technical point of contact between AAA studios and the client
- Research and prototype emerging technology and techniques
- Innovates measurable improvements to artist technology and workflows.
Requirements
Position Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in the gaming industry
- Shipped at least one AAA game in a cinematics or animation related role
- Excellent working knowledge working within Unreal Engine 4
- Working knowledge with Blueprints in UE4/UE5
- Strong working knowledge in Maya;
- Strong working knowledge of animation packages and workflows
- Strong communication skills
- Knowledge of Rigging
- Knowledge of importing and exporting animation in UE4/UE5
Bonus Requirements:
- Knowledge of C++, specifically the UE C++ API
- Knowledge of Python for Maya and UE
- Unreal Anim Dynamics
- Unreal Control Rig
- Worked in technical design roles
