Job Description

A Production Designer Intern who will ensure that the content and integrity of the concept is maintained throughout the design, production and installation process. The demands of this role require an in-depth understanding of the creative intent and the ability for realizing it through the execution of the creative process. The Production Designer Intern is the representative of the creative design team. Interfaces and supports their interests and shares their efforts. Intern will report to Manager, Production Design.

Responsibilities
You will...
  • Confirm design interface with Creative, A&E and D&P disciplines
  • Partner with dimensional design team in model efforts
  • Develop design intent documents under Show Set/Production Design Lead
  • Confirm scope details in preparation for reviews of show design documents
  • Support mock-up and staging efforts
  • Provide day to day support to production and installation crews
  • Develop skills to work in team environment
  • Participate in peer review sessions and show set vendor fabrication supervision.
Basic Qualifications
What you bring to the role...
  • Some experience in design, i.e. theater, architectural, interior, exhibit, industrial or theme park.
  • Ability to read construction drawings
  • Revit/Rhino/Adobe Creative Suite experience
  • Must be advanced on Revit
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication techniques is a plus. These may include some of the following: miniature model making skills, carpentry, scenic painting, sculpting, molding, fiberglass, welding, etc.
  • Ability to work well in an integrated design team with multiple disciplines
  • Work is first shift but will require second and third shift periodically.

Required Education
  • Currently enrolled as a Junior or higher, or graduated within 6 months from an accredited college/university, earning a degree majoring in theatrical set design, production design, architecture, interior or environmental design or related field
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Rhino and Maya

Internship Eligibility
  • Must be at least 18 years of age​
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization​
  • Must provide full work availability
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program. ​
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization​
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship
Program length - The approximate dates of this internship(s) are late August/early September 2023 through early January 2024.

Housing - We provide limited housing opportunities for Florida Based Professional Interns through American Campus Communities.

Transportation - Must have reliable transportation to/from work​.
