Job Description

The Production Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the financial aspects of animation production are managed efficiently and accurately. This position reports directly to the Line Producer and Supervising Producers and collaborates closely with various departments within Powerhouse Animation to oversee and control the production budget. The Production Accountant will manage financial records, monitor expenses, and provide insights to support effective decision-making throughout the production process. This will be a temporary 12-month project with the option to extend, but will come with full-time employee benefits.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Monitoring and Reporting
  • Create, maintain, and update production budgets in collaboration with the Line Producer and Supervising Producers.
  • Monitor ongoing production expenses, including tracking costs related to animation personnel, equipment, and materials.
  • Prepare regular financial reports and forecasts to provide insight into the financial health of the project.
Expense Management
  • Review and approve purchase orders, invoices, and payroll related to the animation production.
  • Ensure that expenses align with the approved budget and address any discrepancies or variances.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for timely payment and cost negotiations.
Financial Documentation
  • Maintain organized and accurate financial records, ensuring all documentation is complete and compliant with studio and industry standards.
  • Prepare and process necessary financial paperwork, such as check requests and petty cash management.
Cash Flow Management
  • Assist in managing the cash flow for the production, ensuring that funds are available when needed.
  • Develop cash flow forecasts to predict financial requirements throughout the production process.
Cost Analysis and Recommendations
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and potential areas for budget optimization.
  • Provide recommendations to the Line Producer and other stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
Tax and Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and financial reporting standards.
  • Collaborate with external auditors as necessary to conduct financial audits.
  • Assist with communications and compliance with various animation guilds.
Team Collaboration
  • Work closely with the Line Producer, Supervising Producers, and other production team members to provide financial guidance and support.
  • Communicate effectively with various departments to address financial queries and concerns.

Union Guideline Awareness/Compliance and Tracking 
  • Stay up to date with Union 839, Union 700, and SAG requirements, ensuring Powerhouse Animation Studios is in compliance with standards at all times.
Qualifications
  • Prior production accounting experience in the animation industry.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and financial tools. Quickbooks and MyCast&Crew are a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail.Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of Union 839 and Union 700 and SAG mechanics and protocols.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
$78,000 - $101,000 a year
