Job Description

We are looking to hire a Manager, Creative Affairs to join the Tubi team to help set up, oversee, and execute a slate of films for our indie and streaming platform pipeline spanning a variety of genres.

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Source and assess screenplays, books, articles, life rights, concepts, sizzles, and short-form content – as well as other forms of intellectual property – in an effort to help build out and sustain a robust film pipeline
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external writers to develop ideas and concepts that are viable for the slate, buyer, and within the slate budget
  • Prepare pitch materials - decks, loglines, synopses, etc. - to sell concepts to various streaming and other network partners
  • Occasionally provides creative administrative support, and acts as a liaison with other departments
  • Coordinate onboarding for interns and regular FTEs
  • Manage readers and creative coverage
  • Provide guidance to Sr. Coordinator and below
  • Understand the creative cycle and team workflow
  • Filter scripts based on what the department can/cannot sell, has the ability to determine what scripts have the potential to move forward
  • Read scripts, script coverage, and additional sourcing of stories and IP
  • Provide notes on script development
  • Demonstrate entrepreneurship and passion for the creative work of the department
  • Sit in on pitches, takes notes, shadows calls/meetings, participates in the creative process; can write concept paragraphs, and has developed pitching skills
  • Support leaders in resolving issues and executing deliverables
  • Interface with lower-level producers, agents, managers, and creative execs to bring in a steady stream of creative materials and project submissions for review and analysis
  • Collaborate with senior executives on pitches and takes
  • Shadow moving projects from submission into active development to ultimately manage a slate of films from script development to physical production including on-set supervision, budgetary oversight, and final delivery of films in line with creative needs and delivery requirements
  • Other duties as assigned by upper management
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • 3+ years in scripted development or equivalent industry experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in independent film and television with a strong taste filter across a variety of genres
  • Experience in creating decks & one-sheets
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom & Slack.
  • Exhibits initiative and self-direction with the willingness to take on additional responsibility and growth as the company expands
  • Professionalism, discretion, and good judgment in all interactions with co-workers and industry professionals
  • Strong ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure
  • Fully understands elements of story structure, character, and plot
  • Successfully communicates feedback to the team
  • Actively contributes to the creative process and understands the market and key players
  • Creative aptitude, ability to give great creative notes and story notes that contribute to a robust television and film pipeline, great attitude, understanding of key players in the industry, strong problem-solving skills, collaborate well with others, sources creative materials and IP, familiarity with trends and up and coming directors and writers
  • Advanced writing, organization, and communication skills

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $70,000.00-85,000.00 annually for California.
