Leading the animation efforts for creating lifelike, compelling real-time 3D characters. The Lead Realtime 3D Animator will play a crucial role in overseeing and guiding the animation team, ensuring the highest quality of character animation that aligns with our clients' expectations and project requirements.
Key responsibilities for the Lead Realtime 3D Animator
- Lead and mentor a team of 3D animators, providing guidance and support in all aspects of character animation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including 3D Realtime Art, Programming and Production to meet project goals and deadlines.
- Conceptualize, plan, and execute complex character animations, incorporating advanced and cutting edge techniques and tools for real-time applications.
- Establish and maintain animation standards, workflows, and best practices to enhance productivity and streamline the animation pipeline.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and facilitate growth and development of the animation team.
- Collaborate with the Lead Character Artist and other key stakeholders to ensure animation style and quality align with project objectives and client expectations.
- Actively participate in brainstorming sessions and creative discussions to enhance character storytelling and emotional impact through animation.
- Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in character animation techniques to continuously improve the animation process and output.
Essential requirements for the Lead Realtime 3D Animator
- Proven experience (5+ years) in games and real-time character animation, with a strong portfolio showcasing exceptional real-time 3D character animations, working on at least one AAA game.
- Extensive knowledge of game/real-time animation pipelines and technologies, including Unreal Engine.
- Able to clean up and enhance motion captured performances.
- Strong experience of character rigs and facial animation solutions.
- Proficiency in industry-standard animation software such as Maya, Blender, or similar.
- Strong leadership and management skills with experience in leading a team of animators.
- Excellent understanding of anatomy, movement, and body language to create natural and expressive character animations.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ideally you would have a BA in Animation, Computer Graphics, or related field.
- Ideally you would have a solid grasp of storytelling, acting, and cinematography principles in animation.
