Job Description

The Stage Manager is the direct conduit for information from the director and producers in the control room to the hosts and guests. 

The primary function of the Stage Manager is to make sure that the hosts are all completely ready to present on air. The floor manager needs to coordinate with many departments such as hair, makeup, wardrobe, audio (microphones), etc.

  • Maintain timing of segments and the commercial breaks. Must have own timing device on person.
  • Place microphones on talent to be able to get the best sound possible.
  • Pass on cues to presenters and guests to ensure timings are met and the broadcast goes smoothly.
  • Responsible for props and technical equipment are safe, ready to use and in the right position prior to airing.
  • Main communicator for the stage with an emphasis on maintaining quiet and a smooth workplace. 
  • Keeps the director informed of action off-camera.
  • Operate as the A2 troubleshooting, replacing batteries and being ready to handle anything that might arise.     
  • Prepare and plan productions, supervise the live rehearsals and make sure everyone knows what they should be doing and when.
  • Deal with any technical hitches and ensure the production floor meets health and safety regulations.
  • You are the main point person on set. It is essential to be firm and to have a presence of authority.
  • Must know daily schedule better than anyone else on set and communicate the daily schedule to hosts.
  • Must manage your time efficiently.
Job Requirements:
  • Must be an excellent communicator and effectively maintain and facilitate communication between everyone on the production team.
  • Must have the ability to work with a sense of urgency within a deadline-oriented fast-paced team environment and juggle multiple projects and priorities at once.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to manage up, down, and across.
  • Experience with live television a plus.
Budgeted Compensation Range: $21.64 to $24.04
