TheGrio is seeking to hire a Line Producer for the heart of programming and production. This position will work closely with Producers and Senior Producers to allocate and ensure deliveries for our provided content. The Line Producer will manage and track the full production process with different heads of multiple departments at theGrio to ensure everything runs smoothly. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for all the crew and contracts pertaining to the program
  • Highly involved in major creative decisions and the pre-production process 
  • Constant communication as a liaison for a wide variety of vendors, clients, and staff
  • Overview the cost allocated with the production, studio facilities, and overall budget
  • Always prepared for the unexpected and helping find creative solutions
  • Manage the content output of a small team of producers to ensure consistency in voice and tone of stories produced 
  • Critically evaluate and determine the in-depth production schedule, shooting schedule, and keep updates on current accounts
  • Providing innovation to the team with great ideas and creative directives 
Education, Experience, Certification Requirements 
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications or related field or equivalent work experience 
  • 3 - 5 years producing experience preferred
  • Experience in programming and political news environment 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 
  • Must be comfortable delegating and executing ideas and assigning tasks to the rest of the crew/staff
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of the overall budget for production
  • Industry connection and internal networks preferred
  • Sharp writing and editing skills 
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices 
  • High comfort level with various content management systems 
  • Knowledge of HTML 
  • Ability to direct work and lead teams through content development 
Must be willing and able to work flexible hours as needed including weekends, holidays, and overnights, under tight deadline pressure, occasionally with little or no warning as needed for essential publication
