Job Description
The ideal candidate is someone who can work well with newsroom staff and have technical knowledge of newsgathering resources. This person must have strong editorial judgment, possess strong organizational skills, and be digitally savvy. You must be able to work under pressure, meet strict deadlines and be aggressive on breaking news.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:

- See the big picture and understand the significance of editorial content
- Responsible for logistics and content creation, working directly with reporters, photographers, producers, managers, and the Content Center to cover the news of the day
- Able to work with Newsone/ABC affiliates, CMG stations, Florida partners and other media organizations across the country, including Cox Radio
- Planning and executing weekend news coverage on all platforms
- Managing logistics and resources
- Newsgathering (including developing story ideas, confirming information, breaking news coverage)
- Creating and publishing content to digital and social media platforms
- Monitoring scanners and social media
- Communicating with broadcast and digital producers, field crews
- Filling in on weekday desk as needed
- The schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overnights
- Routine interruptions and unforeseen assignments are to be expected
- Expected to work under deadline constraints and meet precise deadlines (including self-imposed deadlines)

- Strong knowledge of social media platforms
- Ability to multi-task, strong organizational and communication skills
- Physical demands and essential physical abilities includes: a combination of physical work (standing, walking, lifting and carrying items such as laptop computers, pulling file drawers)
