Job Description

The Casting Manager is the liaison between departments to ensure information is being exchanged clearly and thoroughly.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Manage all day-to-day casting needs and delegate tasks accordingly to the Casting Coordinator
  • Analyze and assess casting needs for current and future projects
  • Ensure all projects are cast correctly to set them up for success. Includes looking at available artists, matching artists to best-fit shows & negotiating with Supervisor and Senior Production (CSO & HoP)
  • Work with Senior Production (CSO and HoP) to keep apprised of current show needs in addition to maximizing billable artists and minimize overhead. Ensure all shows are crewed to approved bids
  • Review and assess the potential casting risks and opportunities and work with Senior Production (CSO and HoP) to be proactive in planning
  • Understand and embrace the financial and logistical challenges the role presents
  • Run the weekly casting meetings and present current data and proposals for casting issues
  • Work with Artist Management & HR to crew artists based on their strengths and career path
  • Produce weekly Recruitment & Crew Contract End Date reports for HR & Recruitment
  • Produce weekly overhead and casting reports to management
  • Work with Senior Production (CSO and HoP) & coordinators to ensure timely delivery of actuals & standard reporting methods
  • Analyze hiring needs and work closely with Recruitment to identify best-fit candidates
  • Be proactive and work with senior production to solve casting issues
  • Work with New Business and Senior Production (CSO & HoP) to compose “what if” projections based on various scenarios
  • Attend internal meetings to understand resource implications of potential new work
  • Distribution of talent across shows to maximize every project's profitability & experience level
  • Along with Artist Management – build and maintain artist rating system includes regular reviews with supervisors to ensure ratings stay current
Essential Skills:
  • A Self-starter with exceptional critical thinking abilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience within a VFX Film Production facility would be ideal however not essential
  • Experience in a role focused on resource/operational planning within a multi-project, fast-paced environment with exposure to and experience in Resource Management/Scheduling and Planning/ Project Management
  • Advanced MS Excel skills
  • Sophisticated analytical skills with the ability to quickly assimilate data and transform this into meaningful reports
  • Familiar with FileMaker Pro or other database software is a plus
  • Familiar with alternative resource management software is a plus
Personal Attributes:
  • Great interpersonal skills, able to demonstrate the ability to build and maintain close relationships with key stakeholders within the business
  • Ability to be flexible and react calmly in a changing environment
