Job Description


The Art Director’s responsibilities include developing, guiding and supporting the design and fabrication of licensed consumer products across multiple categories for US-based Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) and Direct-to-Retail (DTR) e-commerce businesses. The AD must ensure designs are best-in-class and aligned with Paramount Consumer Products trend, retail and franchise creative strategies!

  • Develop and maintain deep understanding of VNCP franchises including characters, story worlds and creative strategies. Act as Paramount franchise creative guide and authority for external DTC/R product development teams.
  • When necessary, collaborate with internal Creative Strategy team to develop strategies and Style-guide/asset Tool kits for Opportunistic properties.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners in determining ideal assortments for each corresponding franchise being sold through DTC/R channels.
  • Using trend research and strategy, align with overall product development and retail strategy and establish unique design direction for DTC/R assortments, ensuring differentiation at different retail distribution.
  • Work with external product development teams to develop original products for DTC/R channels in accordance with established design directions.
  • Use strategic opportunity to test trends, designs and concepts via these channels. Monitor and communicate any/all findings that can be used to improve product design and assortments in these channels as well as in the wider VNCP retail landscape.
  • Maintain deep awareness and expertise in retail trends and assortments, particularly with competitive franchises, in both e-commerce and physical retail channels.
  • Stay abreast of global franchise fan trends, designs, memes and social media feedback and how those can inform more successful product design and execution.
  • Stay aligned of new style guide creative and be familiar with what is in creative archives.
  • Research new design elements including fonts, color palettes and technology.
  • Attend CP Creative meeting on a monthly basis to report on findings from DTC/DTR designs.
  • Maintain, update and innovate virtual brand shops.
  • Communicate project objectives with all personnel clearly and in a timely manor.
  • Develop, cultivate, and maintain a dynamic work environment through which creativity and design innovation is encouraged, personnel are supported and challenged to meet and exceed their potential.

Basic Qualifications:

8+ years creating apparel products for licensed entertainment
Additional Qualifications:
  • Experienced knowledge of the DTC/DTR/Ecom markets
  • Experience with Men, Women and Kids demo
  • Strong creative abilities in 2D product design and development
  • Strong in typography, layout and use of color
  • Computer knowledge in major design and 3D applications: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop
  • Capacity to interpret and implement creative direction, and receive feedback
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment!
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a creative field or fashion design preferred
